Show Notes:

  • Mary’s biggest habits are creating commitments as a step between her goals and her activities.
    • What am I committed to do to make that goal happen?
  • She also keeps an accomplishment journal that forces her to notice accomplishments that she has made.
  • Most systems don’t start with looking at the user as a human being.
    • It’s important to know what matters to you.
  • Everyone wants an instant change.
    • Choose where you want to put your attention then focus on that.
  • Multi-tasking is not more efficient.
    • You have to make the uncomfortable choice of which task is more important.
  • You might be able to grow your multi-tasking abilities, but studies have shown that retention rate falls in return.
  • It’s easier to have a bad habit than a good habit.
  • Mary makes routines for herself to keep herself accountable.
  • How can people make decisions that will make them happy with how they spend their time?
  • Everyone is a leader in their own capacity.
  • Someone’s level of emotional intelligence distinguishes your average leader from your great leader.
  • It’s important to slow down and think. Slowing down helps find innovation.
    • Don’t just rush into thing after thing.
