Joe NewberryJoe Newberry has spent his career excelling in many different fields including telecommunications, executive management and leadership, and now in finance with Veterans United Home Loans, the number one VA Lender in the Country. Joe’s team is the #1 partnered production VA team in the country closing more than $100 million in VA loans a year with more than 3,000 total Veterans put in homes by his team.

Joe is a prior service Army Reservist and applies many military principles to his approach to life and business. Joe has a MBA and teaches business management, communication, accounting, and human resources at Columbia College and acts as an international professor for internships on an international level.
Joe is also a family man and a christian. His wife Marissa also works at Veterans United and she shares many of his same passions in business. Joe’s favorite quote of all time is from Jim Rohn, “We all face one of two pains. The pain of discipline or the pain of regret.”

  • Joe’s number one habit is setting a daily calendar and setting his priorities for the day.
    • At the end of the day, he makes sure he has executed his priorities to the best of his ability.
    • He counts his big wins for the day.
  • Everyday is a grind, so you have to find something bigger than yourself.
    • Do something where you want to give it your all and try to make something bigger than just you.
  • It’s all about wanting something better for yourself, your family, and the people around you.
    • Don’t be afraid to try new things.
  • Being in high performance is about being confident and comfortable in yourself and where you’re at.
  • Focus on what you can control.
  • Performance is sustained over a long period.
  • It’s about not being scared to take risks in areas you need to take risks.
  • The American Dream IS alive and well.
  • Circle yourself with high performers.
  • Have a willingness to invest in others.
    • Helping someone achieve something they didn’t know they were capable of is the greatest feeling.
  • Turning intimidation over a long term goal into excitement will help you get further.
    • Breaking goals down make them easier.
  • Being mindful helps you get deep in your thoughts.
  • You need clarity in your life because if you don’t know who you’re trying to be, you don’t know how to gauge yourself.
    • How would people at your funeral describe you?
  • Courage can be a tough thing to muster.
    • Think of what causes your fears and then address them with logic, and it becomes easier.
  • Productivity is about taking a regular look at time and how you spend your minutes.
    • Ask yourself frequently if this is the most important thing that you can be working on.
  • Influence is important, and as a high performer, people are always watching you.
    • You have an influence on others whether your influence be positive or negative.
