Ep: 106 Nick Baker

Nick Baker is from a small town in Oklahoma and began his journey when he was 15 years old. Nick was a very shy, overweight and unhealthy teen and was looking for a change.  He was inspired to workout after watching a TV personal trainer & motivator. It was like the trainer was talking to Nick and Nick was ready for change. He took responsibility for his health and also discovered his faith in God that summer. It changed the direction of his life in a big way. Nick is now a Training for Life Health and wellness trainer.

  • Each and every day we have to train for our lives.
    • Every area of your life is important.
    • Training for life is a lifelong journey.
  • To start improving today you need a reason to get out of bed when your alarm goes off.
    • You need a strong why.
  • Identify 3 goals that you want to achieve in nutrition, fitness, and self care today.
    • Write down your goals.
    • Then chart the progress of your goal.
      • Score yourself everyday.
    • You should also have an accountability partner to keep you on track.
  • It’s important to have a game plan the night before the next day.
    • Go to bed with a purpose knowing what you’ll do tomorrow.
  • Begin with the end in mind.
    • Think of how good you’ll feel and what it’ll be like once you reach your goal.
  • Exercise gives you more energy, not less.
  • A body in motion stays in motion, and likewise a body at rest stays at rest.
  • Get started by focusing on your body and what it needs.
  • Make sure you work out every area of your body.
  • Focus on all the things you CAN do.
  • Be a student of health and nutrition.
  • Nick’s 3 step plan to start on your fitness today:
    • Have a strong why.
      • Identify your why and share it with others so they know its serious. Write it down.
    • Write your goals down. Write SMART goals.
    • Take action with a bit of accountability.

  4. What advice has Influenced you the most in your life? The advice that attitude matters and it’s his responsibility to take action and make something happen.

  6. Define in one sentence or less, what legacy you want to leave on the world?  He wants to continue to leave a legacy that inspires healthy change in as many people as possible. He wants to leave the words training for life as a way of life for future generations.
